Francois Blanc (the inventor of European roulette) and his wife move to Monte Carlo to take over the Casino de Monte-Carlo after persistent persuasion from Princess Caroline of Monte Carlo, who was attempting to save the casino from bankruptcy.

Under Blanc's management, the casino flourished and became one of the most popular gambling destinations in Europe.
