If I understood the rules well, they're actually stimulating people to learn and get better grades?

Oh, I'd definitely give it a shot. I actually wish there were any such incentives back when I was a student - I bet my average grade would now be significantly higher.

I really think they should legalize it. I mean, if this isn't a good cause in gambling, what is?

The thing is the company obviously thinks they will make money out of this, so they either think students will overestimate their own ability or they will well and truly underpay the odds.
