Dealers Have to Show Their Hands to the Cameras Before They Leave the Table

If you've ever seen a casino dealer engage in some odd ritualistic behavior before going on break, it's because they're being closely watched at all times by cameras embedded in the ceiling. It's called "clearing your hands": dealers clap or "dust" their hands and show their palms for the cameras to show they aren't trying to steal chips. Casino owners put the rule in place because dealers pocketing chips is the one of the most common casino crimes.

Yup!!! So, that is right, it's called "clearing the hands" and it's just a way for everyone to show that they ain't got nothin' in their hands. No cash, no cards, no chips, no nothin' that they ain't supposed to have. You'll see most casino cashiers do this when they're done counting out your winnings. It's just to let you know that they ain't keepin' any of your hard-earned cash for themselves.

Yes and also casinos take security and fairness seriously, and surveillance cameras play a crucial role in monitoring activities at the gaming tables. I can confirm that dealers in many casinos are required to show their hands to the cameras before leaving the table. This is done to ensure that the dealer is not taking any chips or playing cards with them when they leave the table, which is a common form of theft in casinos.

The act of "clearing your hands" involves the dealer clapping their hands together or dusting their palms on the table and then showing their hands to the cameras. This is usually done in full view of the players at the table as well. What other security measures do casinos have in place to prevent theft or cheating? How effective are these measures in maintaining the integrity of the games and ensuring a fair playing experience for all players?

While some may find the practice odd or unsettling, it is a necessary security measure designed to protect both the casino and the players. By ensuring that dealers cannot take chips or cards with them, the casino can maintain the integrity of the games and prevent any cheating or theft from occurring.

So, the act of "clearing your hands" is a common practice in many casinos, and it serves as an important security measure to prevent theft and cheating at the table.
